Now offering Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
What KAP Is
KAP pairs carefully prescribed ketamine with psychotherapy in a safe, structured setting. Ketamine is a legal, FDA-approved medication (for anesthesia/pain) whose off-label use in mental health is supported by a substantial and growing literature. Therapy provides the container for safety, meaning-making, and durable change.
Why People Consider KAP
- Fast-acting relief has been demonstrated for depression, including treatment-resistant cases; studies also show promise for PTSD and anxiety, and short-term reductions in suicidal ideation.
- Standardized, research backed protocol: KAP emphasizes: Preparation → Guided 2–3 hr journeys → Integration
How Change Happens: Neuroplasticity
Your brain can rewire—forming new connections and patterns. After a KAP session, there’s a heightened window of neuroplasticity for ~24–72 hours. That’s the prime time to practice new skills and anchor insights from the journey so they stick. KAP is like turning over hardened soil in a garden. Old roots are loosened, and new seeds (skills, insights, habits) have space to take root and grow.
When combined with integrative therapies like Brainspotting, EMDR, Art Therapy, yoga/somatic practices, and relationship work, these new trails become stronger, well-worn pathways — supporting resilience, connection, and lasting change.
This may be beneficial for those who…
- Experience depression, anxiety, or trauma symptoms not fully responsive to prior care.
- Are feeling “stuck” in rigid patterns; seeking a legal, evidence-informed option.
- Are willing to engage in preparation and integration (not medicine-only).
- Have supportive structures (family, friends, community, or care team).
KAP is not suitable for those who are:
- Pregnant/nursing;
- Have uncontrolled cardiovascular disease
- Experience active psychosis or untreated mania
- Have experienced recent significant TBI
- Have severe respiratory disease
- Are engaging in active substance misuse
- Other medical concerns flagged in clearance. (Each case is individually reviewed.)
Our Clinical Process: What to expect
1. Initial Consultation
Meet with your therapist to explore your goals and see if KAP is the right fit.
2. Medical Clearance
Connect with a medical provider for evaluation and ketamine prescription. (You'll follow up with them as needed throughout your treatment.)
3. Preparation (1–3 sessions)
We'll build the foundation together—clarifying your intentions, strengthening your inner resources, and creating a container of safety and trust that opens the door to healing.
4. Medicine Sessions (2–6 sessions)
Each session lasts 2.5–3 hours and includes preparation, your ketamine journey, and time to rest and reflect afterward. Your therapist stays with you the entire time.
5. Integration (2–4+ sessions)
This is where change becomes real—we'll help you make sense of what happened, practice new patterns in your actual life, and build the skills and habits that create lasting relief.
